The mission of the San Fernando Valley Refugee Children Center in North Hills is to be a healing embrace to the hundreds of unaccompanied children who have made the perilous journey from Central America to seek refuge in the San Fernando Valley.  Our overarching goal is to reach out to these children and their families and offer our Center as a place of welcome and healing through partnerships with community organizations to provide for basic needs, services and resources including:

  • Legal assistance
  • Fun gatherings, field trips, potlucks, etc.
  • Clothes, blankets
  • Personal hygiene items
  • School supplies
  • Toys
  • Emotional and spiritual support
  • Financial assistance for basic care and/or referrals for medical, dental, vision needs

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Twitter
Our refugee kids fled their homes to escape deadly violence, often enduring a long and perilous journey to get here. But resettling in a new country and learning a different language can be a difficult and lonely process as well. We give our kids a sense of warmth and belonging by organizing social activities, providing playtime, tutoring, and most importantly a chance to get acclimated to a new life.

How do you want to help save lives?

We are here to provide kids a healing embrace...

Make a single or monthly donation directly from your bank account, credit card, or Paypal.

Now, more than ever, we need your support. Our fundraising efforts have been halted by the pandemic and our signature Champions for Children event will unfortunately not be taking place. Sadly, this pandemic is devastating our communities and the needs of our children and families only increase with time.

The SFVRCC has been offered a 1:1 matching gift to monies raised by October 15th, 2020, up to $25,000

But we need your help to rise to the challenge!

Your contributions go twice as far during our Matching Grant Campaign. Every dollar will be matched by our generous donor. And more importantly, a gift of any amount helps meet the needs of our children and families during this very challenging time.

LEGAL REPRESENTATION

TELL US

Our experience shows that over 90% of refugee children who have legal representation are granted asylum status...while those who don't are usually denied.  We partner with non-profit law firms and attorneys offering pro-bono and "low-bono" services to ensure our kids receive fair and competent representation during their court hearings.

Post it, tweet it, share it. The more people you tell, the more help we can receive.
